Care and Comfort Veterinary Hospital offers comprehensive treatment ranging from complete physical examinations to complex surgery in our state-of-the-art facility. We provide veterinary services for dog and cats, but also offer spay and neuter services on rabbits on select days. Following is a list of some of the services offered at our hospital.

Complete Physical Examinations - We offer appointments with the veterinarian of your choice 6 days a week. At this time, the doctor will thoroughly assess your pet and discuss any concerns you may have. The doctor will provide a written treatment plan before any procedures, diagnostics, surgeries, or treatments are started on your pet. This way you will be able to make an educated decision on the treatment for your pet which also fits your financial needs.

Safe Anesthesia & Surgery - We use modern inhalant anesthetics to make anesthesia as safe as possible for your pet. Your pet will be observed by a California registered veterinary technician using the latest in monitoring technology including pulse oximetry (measuring oxygen levels in the bloodstream), ECG, carbon dioxide levels, and blood pressure monitoring to ensure your pet’s safety under anesthesia. Your pet will also be warmed by a forced air warming blanket during the entire procedure which helps them recover quickly. Our high tech surgical suite provides the proper environment for the specialized and highly technical surgeries our veterinarians perform.

Low Cost Spay/Neuter - Care & Comfort Veterinary Hospital proudly contracts with the San Diego County Animal Shelter and Spay Neuter Action Project (SNAP) to provide charitable low cost spay and neuter services. Every year we have donated over $60,000 worth of low cost services to pet owners of San Diego County through this program. Pet overpopulation is a serious problem, and this is our small way to help.

Dentistry - Dental care is a very important part of your pet's overall health. By the age of 2 years, most pets already have early stage dental disease! Dental disease can adversely affect organ function and the health of your pet. We use Midmark dental machines to ultrasonically scale your pet’s teeth and take dental x-rays to provide the best dental care possible.

Medications & Prescription Diets - For your convenience, we maintain a variety of medications and prescription diets for your pets. This enables us to fill most prescriptions before you leave our hospital.

Laboratory - We have state-of-the-art in house Idexx laboratory equipment that allows us to run complete blood counts, chemistries, fecal testing, and many other tests on location at our hospital within hours. We also contract with Antech Diagnostics to send many of our blood and tissue samples for overnight results.

Digital Radiology and Ultrasound - Our digital x-ray and ultrasound machines allow us to see internal organs in great detail. We send these images to be reviewed by a board certified specialist. These tools are vital aids to help the doctors make an accurate diagnosis and the best treatment plan for your ill pet.

Immunizations -  Vaccines are essential to the well being of your pet. We use the highest quality vaccines available and follow University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine recommended vaccination schedule. Vaccines protect your pet from fatal viruses and diseases found in the environment and other animals.

Emergency & Urgent Care - A doctor and highly trained nursing staff are always available in case of an emergency with your pet during our business hours. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment, do not hesitate to call or come in immediately.

Pet ID's and Microchipping - A microchip is a small device that can be easily inserted under your pet's skin. It is as quick and painless as a vaccine. The owner's information is registered with a national database, and if a lost pet is found, the owner can be contacted. Veterinary hospitals and animal shelters have scanners that read the microchip number and allow the owner to be contacted.

Emergency After Hours? If an emergency with your pet occurs outside of our business hours, we work closely with the Pet Emergency and Specialty Center (near Grossmont Center) at 619-462-4800.  They are available 24 hours a day 365 days a year to help.  www.pescsandiego.com
